Joe Webb is one of Neath’s great success stories. He’s a Mercury Music Prize nominated musician who’s shared a stage with Jools Holland, and written songs for Raye. Since leaving Neath to pursue a career in music, Joe has garnered a reputation as one of the world’s most formidable jazz pianists, and Neath Arts Festival is delighted to be staging his homecoming show!
In what promises to be an unmissable event, Joe Webb will be joined by bassist Will Sach and drummer Sam Jesson to perform songs from Joe’s latest album ‘Neath Beat’. The sound draws on the velocity and harmonic imagination of Art Tatum, channelled through a modern, British sensibility shaped by the melodic directness and confidence of Oasis.
Mae Joe Webb yn berfformwr hynod o lwyddiannus o Gastell-nedd. Mae Joe wedi perfformio gyda Jools Holland ac wedi cyfansoddi caneuon gyda Raye. Cafodd ei albym diwethaf ‘Hamstrings a Hurricanes’ ei henwebu am y Wobr Mercury. Ers gadael Castell-nedd er mwyn astudio cerddoriaeth mae Joe wedi ennill enw da fel un o bianyddion jazz mwyaf talentog ei genhedlaeth, ac mae Gŵyl Gelfyddydau Castell-nedd yn falch iawn o’i groesawu ef adref!
Yn y digwyddiad cofiadwy hwn fydd Triawd Joe Webb yn perfformio traciau oddi ar albym diweddaraf Joe, ‘Neath Beat’. Mae’r albym wedi ei ysbrydoli gan Art Tatum ac mae’r caneuon yn cael eu chwarae gyda hyder ac ysbryd uniongyrchol Oasis.
